Best Digital Camera Accessories

Selecting the Best Digital Camera Accessories

Many times when we set out to buy a digital camera our focus is on the camera itself. If you have yet to buy a digital camera, this overview of the best digital camera accessories can help give you a better idea of what to consider into your digital camera package.

If you have already purchased your camera, consider these accessories as an upgrade to your current items you’ve already purchased. Pricing is of course a feature that may guide your decisions as well. This article will not go into any major details, but they will help you think about your possibilities.

Best Digital Camera Accessories by Features

Digital Camera Megapixels – The More the Better

Pretty much everyone understands the importance of the pixels. When we purchased our first digital camera the top cameras had about 5 to 6 megapixels. Today they are up to 12 megapixels for the digital slr cameras. The price and size will determine how many megapixels your camera will produce.

For the best print quality you want no less than six megapixels. The more megapixels you have the better. You will need more megapixels if you want more professional editing done to your pictures.

Best Digital Camera Accessories - The Features on the Camera Itself

Automatic VS Manual Digital Camera Features

Even an experienced digital photographer can appreciate times where the automatic features are quite handy and even necessary. Inexperienced photographers will enjoy the results of their efforts with auto focus and digital zoom. However, having the option for manual adjustments will allow for an inexperienced person who wants to grown and improve in their digital camera photography so having both auto and manual is ideal.

Automatic Flash

Flash is at times needed, but it can become a real pain if you cannot turn this feature off. Our digital slr camera has both options and believe me you don’t want to have that flash coming on when your goal is not to brighten up the area you’re photographing.

LCD Monitor

LCD monitors are great for setting up your shots as you can see them right on the monitor. Test out the camera you have an eye on first. Some LCD monitors are very poor in providing good visual previews of your pictures.

Best Digital Camera Accessories - The Other Necesseties

The Digital Camera Memory Cards

Some of the more important digital camera accessories include things like memory cards. My husband and I will bring along our laptop PC in order to download the pictures we take on our vacations.

Sometimes we have over 350 pictures to download and it does take some time to download them to our PC. In addition to that we have to hike back to our car where our computer is. So, having extra memory cards is the optimum way to go as it will allow you to take a great deal more pictures without worrying about running out of memory space - which we tend to do a lot. ;)

Now for the next best digital camera accessories that you’ll want to consider including in your purchase.

Good quality camera bag to protect your digital camera and all the great accessories you’re going to have to tote around with you.

Extra batteries or a battery grip that can hold extra batteries. The type of extra batteries you buy are going to depend on the type of digital camera you purchase.

Extra digital camera lenses for a lot of extra fun. This is by far going to be where you’re big expenses are.

Special Lens Tip

Canon makes a 400 mm zoom lens for our Canon Rebel XXI. The price is very high. Last time we checked it was between 3 and 5k. Wow! However, the lens we have our eye on is an off brand lens and it sells for $1300.00 which is way more in our price range.

Before you buy an expensive lens, check with a local digital camera dealer and talk to someone who can help you find the lens you’d like that will fit your camera but may not be of the same brand. I do want to caution you on this though as many times off brands can become a problem. This is why it’s important to talk to someone who will give you some honest advice.
